Sunset view – horses of Estepona

Well isn’t this an amazing view through the ears of a horse? Sunrise and sunset is incredible at Ranch Siesta Los Rubios. The sun rolls on up over the sea and sets behind the Sierra Bermeja mountains, called the Red Mountains.

It’s wonderful to go riding here and this shot sums it all up – the best sunset view. Horses of Estepona!

Cycling Sierra Bermeja, Estepona

Every day we are sharing the mountains we ride in with cyclists and hikers. We love to see them and often photograph each other.

Cycling Sierra Bermeja – our back garden, our playground and our little bit of paradise behind Estepona.

Whether on two feet, wheels or 4 hooves get out and see and enjoy this wonderful natural park and it’s 100 km of trails.

Sunset horse riding Costa Del Sol

Join us on a fabulous sunset horse riding Costa del Sol adventure up into the Sierra Bermeja mountains behind Estepona.

Because of the heat and wanting to protect the horses (as well as their riders!) we ride for sunrise and sunset in the summer months.

It’s cool, quiet and simply an incredible experience. It’s no wonder we are Number 1 of Outdoor Activities on Tripadvisor with 100% 5 star reviews. Would you like to come with us?

Playing in the water – horse riding Estepona

Its hot out there and some horses just can’t resist a proper play in the plunge pool in the river!

The river dries up mostly in Summer but we know a few secret spots where the water stays longer.

After two hours of fantastic mountain trails this was just what the horses needed. Not all are keen but if we take the tack off, a few of our water babies here just run in, lie down, wiggle around and never want to come out!

Horse riding Estepona – the best few hours of fun you can ever have! Our mountain rides are 2.5-3 hours for riders who can trot and canter. We have other rides for people with less or no experience. During the hot months our rides go out at sunrise and for sunset to keep humans and horses cool (and healthy!)

Green green grass!

Our horses have been out enjoying the green green grass of Spring!

And there’s more of it than usual.

You may have seen that this part of Spain has had a lot (and we mean A LOT) of torrential rain, continuously, throughout March and into April? The reservoirs which were in deficit for the last 3 years or more, causing drought warnings and water shortages, now have enough water for quite a few years. The annual rainfall and then some more on top fell in less than a few weeks.

The result though is that the wildflower meadows are incredible this year, and the grass is high, green and rich. The horses made a beeline to that green green grass on a recent ride to the river.

February happy hackers

It might have been a little chilly but this week we’ve had some fabulous rides out – happy hacking Estepona!

Horse Riding fun in the sun

Our experienced riders head off into the lovely Sierra Bermeja Natural Park behind Estepona. Its a wonderful place with free roaming goats, rivers, old ruins, fruit trees, steep mountains, stunning views, long cantering tracks – and in November we have had warm weather and blue skies every day.

If you are a rider and fancy some riding fun in the sun then why not give us a call? Our mountain rides are 2 – 3.5 hours long depending on which routes we take.

Here are two of our regular riders out having fun in the sun this week – Helen on Ahitan (who is a livery at Ranch Siesta Los Rubios) and Nikki on Enya (the blonde bombshell) who she part loans from us.

Viewpoint hack for beginners

Our 2 hour viewpoint hack finishes with lovely views across to Gibraltar – we took Michael and his girlfriend this week. Here’s what he had to say.

“Lovely morning with Caroline and her horses. Took the 2 hour viewpoint hack with my girlfriend and the views were absolutely stunning. The horses are so well trained and cared for and even for a novice like me I didn’t have any issues once they picked up the pace. Highly recommended to anyone in the area.”
